Margaret Laird who was born in 1948 tells us about growing up in Corstorphine in the 1950s and 60s Her father opened a large Ironmongers on St Johns Road and it was there that he met Margarets Mother. Margaret had two brothers who attended Heriots  but she was sent to Mary Erskines where the headmistress Miss Jennings was feared by the pupils and teachers alike.
